Chairman of the State Audit Board (BPK) Anwar Nasution visited the victims of Friday`s JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton bombings at Metropolitan Medical Centre (RS MMC) here on Sunday.
Based on data at the MMC hospital, one of the victims treated at the hospital was I Gusti Agung Ray, an official of the BPK.
Anwar Nasution said the BPK official went to JW Marriott Hotel which was blown up on Friday to bid farewell to delegates of a number of countries who had just attended a meeting on corruption and money laundry eradication.
There were delegates from 15 countries including the United States, Germany, Peru, Malaysia and Ecuador, who stayed at the hotel and planned to return to their countries on Friday. They attended the meeting on July 15-16, 2009, he said.
During the bomb blast, the BPK official was injured on the left feet after being hit by a shrapnel thrown by the bomb explosion.
Nasution said that the condition of the BPK official had begun to improve, but he was rather worried about the victim`s psychological condition as he directly experienced and witnessed the bombing.
Suspected suicide bombs went through JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton hotels on Friday morning, killing nine people and injuring more than 50 people.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono ordered the law enforcing agencies to immediately conduct a comprehensive investigation of the bomb attacks at the two five-star Jakarta hotels.
Head of the National Police`s Public Relations Division Inspector General Nanang Sukarna said six people were killed on the spot at the JW Marriott Hotel and two at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, while one died at Medistra Hospital.
Police investigators and bomb squad personnel were still investigating the bombings. Marriott Hotel was bombed by terrorists before, namely on August 5, 2003. Some 12 people, including a Dutch national, were killed and 147 others wounded.
